No. 17 Lady Roadrunners Advance to Conference Semifinals
Almeida's Brace Lifts AC over NTCC

The 17th-ranked Angelina College Lady Roadrunners are heading to the Region XIV Conference Tournament semifinals following a solid performance on Tuesday against Northeast Texas Community College.
AC's Beatriz Almeida scored a pair of quick goals and Sarah Riboe another in a 3-1 win over the Lady Eagles in Tuesday's quarterfinal action at the Larry Phillips Family Sports Complex on the AC campus.
Riboe opened the match's scoring when she took Almeida's pass and found the low corner of the net with just 15 minutes elapsed in the match for a 1-0 AC lead.
In the 19th minute, Almeida blasted a shot through the keeper's hands for an unassisted goal and a 2-0 Lady 'Runner lead. Barely a minute later, Almeida again scored a solo goal after evading a defender before drilling her second score of the match.
The Lady Roadrunners made that 3-1 halftime lead hold up the rest of the way, propelling them into the conference semis.
AC (10-2-1) next will host No. 9 Trinity Valley Community College at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31 at the Larry Phillips Family Sports Complex on the Angelina College campus.
