Angelina College's Lady Roadrunner soccer team continued its torrid streak, capping its eighth straight win in the regular-season finale at home on Tuesday with a 3-1 over Jacksonville College.
Paula Suarez scored the first goal for AC on a penalty kick in the 35th minute. After Jacksonville evened the score at 1-1 in the 60th minute, AC's Brenda Izaguirre took a pass from Michelle Naderman and knocked it home at the 77th minute; and with six minutes remaining in the match, Suarez fed Estephany Aguilar to cap the scoring.
Before the match, the Lady 'Runners recognized sophomores Camilla Rico, Tannia Diaz, Luna Berushi, Clara Sonet, Estephany Aguilar, Evelyn Cornelio and Catherine Rivera.
Having clinched the Region XIV South Zone earlier this month, the Lady Roadrunners (10-4, 8-3) have earned a berth in the upcoming Conference Tournament. AC's ladies will host Paris College (5-9-1, 4-8) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25.
A Friday win will have the Lady 'Runners hosting another tournament match on Sunday, with opponent and time to be announced following Friday's match.
