Bio

Lady Roadrunner head basketball coach Addie Lees enters her first season with Angelina College. Lees spent the past two seasons at Christian Brothers University as the Head Women's Basketball Coach/Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Success and Senior Woman Administrator – the highest-ranking female in the intercollegiate athletics department. Lees also served as the athletic department’s community service liaison. The athletic department totaled 2,528 hours of community service for the 2024-2025 year.

Lees came to CBU after an outstanding year at Arkansas State University Mid-South in West Memphis, Arkansas. After taking the job in July, 2022, with no returning players, Lees put together a team just three weeks prior to the start of classes that would go on to claim the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament title before falling in the Central Plains District Championship to finish the year 19-11.

To cap off the championship season, three of her student-athletes were named to the NJCAA Academic All-American teams. The Lady Greyhounds also were named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year after posting a 3.19 cumulative grade point average. All sophomores graduated and transferred to four year universities.

In addition to her coaching duties, Lees also served as an assistant athletic director responsible for eligibility, compliance and gameday operations.

Prior to her tenure at ASU Mid-South, Lees spent four years at Kilgore College (TX) where she led the Lady Rangers to a 75-42 record that included three 20-win seasons and a Top-25 national ranking. In addition, the Plainview, Texas native boasts a 100% transfer rate and a 100% graduation rate for her student-athletes with every team holding a 3.15 grade point average or above. In her first season at Kilgore, Lees led the team to the most overall and region wins for a first-year coach in Kilgore program history, going 22-9 overall and 13-5 in NJCAA Region 14 play. An identical 22-9 record followed her second season, and after the 2020-21 COVID-shortened year, the Lady Rangers finished 21-11 in 2021-22 before falling in the Region 14 tournament semifinals.

Before her arrival at Kilgore, Lees spent time as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at NCAA Division I Texas State University, where she played a key role in helping the Lady Bobcats to a WBI postseason tournament appearance. Lees went to Texas State after her first head coaching job at Clarendon College (TX), where she led the team to a 15-15 record in her only season at the NJCAA Region 5 school. Lees also coached at Howard College, where she served as assistant coach her first year and associate head coach in her second season. Previously, Lees served as a graduate assistant coach at Eastern New Mexico University, where she earned her master's degree.

Lees playing career started when she helped Plainview High School (TX) earn back-to-back state championships before the team finished as state runners-up her senior season. She then moved on to NJCAA Region 5 member Midland College (TX) for two seasons before finishing her playing career at Arkansas Monticello, where she earned her bachelor's degree with Magna Cum Laude honors.

Word from the Coach:

“Our culture has a strong foundation of discipline, integrity and gratitude. My approach to coaching and recruiting is transformational. I put a lot of emphasis on creating unity, competitiveness and buying into the process. I want each player to grow as a person, student and athlete before moving on to the next level.”
